"Teaching Maki to Paint"

According to babycenter.com toddlers should be able to copy circles and line drawings by 23 months old and that's what my son is able to do now. What amazes me is how he holds the pen and how he writes. Most often he would ask for paper and pen and once he gets it he will starts to scribble. This is the only way that Maki rest for being hyper active and quiet.

Right now we are letting him draw using a color pencil. This is to enhance his creativity and color recognition.

"Luzon In a State of Calamity"

Yesterday's continuous rain caused a major calamity to most parts of Central and Northern Luzon. It's only this morning that we were able to travel back to Manila. On our way to Manila, roads were left with pictures of trash and siltation. The worst of all is what I've seen on TV and the result of that continuous rain. Many people were totally affected with it.

Now, NGOs and Network Stations have organized Operation Centers and Help Centers to reach out to all people affected of Storm Ondoy. Also they are seeking help, foods, clothing, tents, money and other materials from companies and kind hearted people.

These people really need help and this is my way of helping them (at least) by directing people who can help to Help Centers. Kindly direct your donations and help to these Network Stations.

"Stranded on a Medical Mission Day"

Today was a successful Medical Mission in the Resettlement Center at Flofidablanca, Pampanga. Everything went well enough though there are still some factors that affects the full implementation of the activity. We have catered almost 800 people, free check up from our partner doctors and given free medicines. Though tired and a little bit sleepy we still manage to cope up with the tiresome activity.

The number one and the main problem was the weather. From the start of the morning it already started to rain. At the whole duration of the activity the rain seems endless. By the time that we're almost over the weather started to pour heavy rains. It was none stop even until we left the area. Then we started hearing news that most parts of Central and Southern Luzon were already paddling in waters and causing blockage to most of the major roads. This leads to motorist and passengers being stranded. Also it gives no choice but to stay in Clark and let the floods settle. Unfortunately we will have to stay until tomorrow morning. What a day!

I really miss my son I don't what they are doing now. I should be playing with them by this time already. At least I should be thankful because my family is still in a safe place. Thanks GOD!

As I am writing this blog post the whole Metro Manila is already in a State of Calamity and many people, houses, and vehicles were already affected by the storm. To all please pray and help others! Thanks!

"Sunday Service Message: Death"

I'm glad that I was able to digest the Sunday Service Message yesterday. Well... Maki is not that noisy anymore! We were able to contain him in one place ... errr... not quite actually. But anyway his now learning to behave himself when say so.

So let's get on with the message. The message was about "DEATH". We all know that people don't want to talk about this matter.

According to the message there are two kinds of death, one is the physical death and the other is the spiritual death. On the physical death, our physical body deteriorate or dies while on the spiritual death, our spirit looses the connection with GOD. The pastor give emphasize on the spiritual death. Many people are yes healthy and alive but doesn't know that within them they are dead already. But thanks to Jesus Christ's sacrifices because all of our sins were taken away. And the good thing is that it is free, all we need to do is believe in HIM.

Our pastor also tells a story about a man who wanted to commit suicide. The story goes like this. The man's house is so big with five floors. Even though he was wealthy he has lots of problems. He couldn't bear all his problem so he wanted to comment suicide. It was Christmas season and the kids are going house to house caroling. When he was about to commit suicide his door bell rang, he goes down and opened the door. The kid gave an envelope and greeted him Merry Christmas God loves you. The man get the envelope and went back in to continue his suicide plan. When he was about to continue to commit suicide the door bell rang again. Going down angry, he opened the door and found another kid. Gave him an envelope and said Merry Christmas God loves you. The man get the envelope and again went back in to continue what he was about to do. He said no matter what happens I'll commit suicide. When he was about to do it ... again. The door bell rang vigorously. He remembered that he should have put money in the envelope and gave it to the kid. Angry and in a hurry he went down and opened the door. To his awe the kid was gone already and then he remembered the two kids said to him GOD LOVES YOU!

It is true GOD really loves us!

"Buying Gift turned Collecting Hobby"

Memories out of precious materials are what give antiques or other priceless things great value. Collectors value them very much and most of holds a piece of them into the item which sometimes making it hard for them when these items were lost, stolen or burned.

Like myself I’m a collector also, I managed to collect some of the limited model cars of Ferrari through Shell. That model cars were so priceless for me because that was the first time I started collecting Ferrari model cars. At first I thought of buying it as a present for my son though he was only a few months old then. When I found out that it was actually self-fulfilling, that was the time I started watching out for some collectibles. Now I got a few sets of those Ferrari Cars.

If you’re trying collect thing and you’ve just began. It is better to look at it in some online shops that could actually give you a head start. One site that I know that provides a variety of collectible items, that’s Shopwiki.com. Look into the site, browse some items, and if you like and it suites your collecting passion buy it.

"Names for your Babies"

Naming babies is not an easy task for parents to be. There are things that parents to be should consider, like uniqueness, parents advice, friends advice, length of the name, significance, and etc. Though these things should be considered, still, parents to be always have the last words.

Like in our case we named our son Anarc Makisig, to make him unique. The Anarc came from our names and Makisig as a sign of being a Filipino and me as a historian. I tried to look for my son’s name Anarc and I found nothing. There’s Anarchy and Anarcon but no Anarc.

If you’re looking for your babies name try visiting this site that I have found. They got lots of names listed in it. The site is simple and exact. They just provide the names and first name. So you can look at it and also if you like the name you could eventually use it.

"Signs of Language Delay"

Last Sunday, while attending the Church Vesper Worship Service, Maki wanted to go down and run around. Of course we don't allow him because he might disturb the Worship Service. So to make him busy we gave something to play with, we gave the worship program. Though we gave him the paper he's pointing at her mommy's bag. At first I didn't know what he wanted but later I realized that he needs a pen to write. So I pulled out my sign pen and gave it him. He was kept busy sketching and scribbling. At least he won't bother anyone.

After a few minutes he started babbling words as if he was telling a story about his scribbling. Worst, his babbling gets louder so I brought him down at the lobby and sat down on a chair, place Maki on top of the table and there he continued scribbling and babbling. While he was scribbling I talked to him and asked what he was doing. He look at me and points his scribbling while babbling as if he was talking to me. Very good I said. At least I don't have to worry that my son is having problem with his communication skills.

I was able to read an article on babycenter.com regarding signs of language delay and I'm glad that my son is not affected with it. He's on the right track.

Here it is to check what are the signs of language delay from an article in babycenter.com. And if you see this signs coordinate immediately with your pediatrician.

"Jump for pehpot"

Maki Jumps for Pehpot

I'm featuring my son, my omega pain killer. Look how happy he is. I want to take a picture of Maki jumping alone but my problem is that his feet moves less than two inches above the ground. So I decided Maki to hold my hands and started jumping way high. To make it a picture of him alone I move myself away from the cam. So here it is Maki jumping for pehpot.
Why don't you jump for pehpot too?

"Changing Toddlers Sleeping Habits or Mine"

From babies to toddlers really makes a big change. When Maki was born his sleeping time was different from mine and I have to adjust for that. Of course Maki has to be fed during night time.

Now, Maki is a toddler and his sleeping habits also changes. His more active at night and putting him to sleep is really a hard time. According to an article in babycenter.com, sleeping habits of toddlers are a combination of nature (biology) and nurture (learning and environment). Which means you cannot change your toddler's sleeping habits instead you can just adjust and shift it.

Here's something from babycenter.com that parent should keep as a general guidelines in mind:

It's easier to stay up later than to go to sleep earlier. If you've ever experienced jet lag , you've probably noticed this: Traveling east to west, which means staying up later than normal, is easier on you sleepwise than vice versa, when night falls before you're ready to sleep. The same is true for your toddler. Getting him to play or read for another hour after his usual bedtime would be easier than lulling him to sleep an hour sooner.

Work in 15-minute increments. Don't expect to be able to change his sleep patterns overnight, so to speak. On your first night of trying, aim for his being in bed at 8:15 instead of 8:30. Once you have that new bedtime established — which, with persistence, should happen within two or three days — shift it to 8:00, and so on, until you hit your target of 7:30. (And just be grateful he can't read the clock yet!)

Think in terms of his entire routine. Don't overlook the fact that if your child's bedtime is 15 minutes earlier, dinner has to be ready 15 minutes earlier, bath time is 15 minutes earlier, teeth get brushed 15 minutes earlier, storytime is 15 minutes earlier, etc. In other words, the entire evening's schedule could change, depending on how your evening routine usually goes. Make sure to take it all into account.

Be prepared for other shifts in his sleep routine. It might not happen immediately, but once your child's bedtime has moved up by 30 minutes or an hour, he'll probably wake up that much earlier in the morning. Nap time might also change — you could start noticing yawns much earlier in the afternoon. Be flexible. And remember: You're making a trade-off by shifting his bedtime. Ask yourself if you're ready to rise and shine an hour earlier than you're used to — before you make the switch.

"Med Academy"

Thinking of what courses will Maki choose when he grows up. Will I’ll just let him decide on which and what will he choose. Though, there is a lot of Med School that are offering short term courses for people who are eager to learn immediately.

One of this Med school is the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts that offers different course together with their highly trained and educated doctors, nurses and medical technologists. Aside from qualified doctors, nurses and medical technologists they also provide a venue to have a first experience with regards to their courses. They consider clinical experience is one of the most important parts of the medical education.

Some of their short term courses that you can enroll are Vocational Nurse (LVN or LPN),Ultrasound Technology (Diagnostic Medical Sonography or dms),Radiologic Technology (X-Ray), MRI Technology, Psychiatric Technician,Phlebotomy Technician (CPT 1).
So if you’re interested enough try visiting their site and choose the courses that best fits you.

"Looking for This Baby's Dad"

"Toddlers Accident"

Just recently, I received a text message from my wife informing me that Maki, our son, accidentally slipped and bump his head on the wall of the comfort room. According to my wife Maki was being washed by his Nanny. When the Nanny was going to get his clothes Maki, being hyper active, accidentally slipped and bumped his forehead on the wall. The bump was really hard causing it to turn violet.

I don't know the full details but in our case when we're washing Maki we make sure that we don't leave him unattended. His too active and always plays around. I really don't like it when my kid is being hurt badly.

So be it a caution to every Nanny, Parents, or Grandparents don't leave your kids unattended after washing or bathing. Always put in mind that wet floors are not child-friendly.

.

"Enjoying Music and Rhymes"

Yesterday was a very gloomy day, aside from the funeral of the INC leader, it was a rainy day. So, since there was no way to get fun activity outside we just have to settle the fun in the house. Plug the Magic Sing and we started singing. Maki was also singing, though we cannot understand some of his wordings. To let Maki enjoy the singing we played some rhyme and children music like "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and the "ABC Song". And that how we have fun during rainy days.

According to an article at babycenter.com letting your toddlers listen to music helps him develop his brain and motor skills. Fun music makes your toddlers move and catch up with the beat of the music letting them perfect their motor skills. Aside from these benefit, listening to music makes it as a bonding time for parents and kids. Just make sure that the music is fun and appropriate for the babies and toddlers.

"If You Think..."

Most of us who deals with big and numerous problems often think that the world is crumbling down on us. Most of the time we face to God and ask why. A lot of "why's" and a lot of "me". Questioning and whining is what we always do when problems in our life occurs. When this questions are not met we turn to vices, hoping that it will solve our problems. And when everything fails, that's the time we looses sanity or experiencing a nervous break down. That's because we cannot bear the problem. Though most of this doesn't really lead straight to insanity, it's true.

After seeing the video clip and hearing those words, I don't know how to explain the feeling but it really made me drop a tear. Realizing that we only got a piece of what we call "problem" compared to this guy. We should be thankful that we, who are living normally, had a job, can walk, can play, and can do everything that we want to.

Nick's disability is inborn, he was born with no arms and no legs but he really gives hope, encouragement and inspiration to others to continue life no matter what. Problem is not a hindrance for him instead it is his strength to keep on sharing what God has made for him.

"Life isn't unfair, it's just a matter on how we look at things that makes it unfair."

"Getting Independent"

Maki is getting independent already. Yesterday we went to the mall to buy a new electric fun, as usual Maki would always wanted to walk alone and do everything on his own. If I would grab his hand he would sit down and stop walking. He always does this just to make me let him walk alone. Anyway it's a good thing that he's developing and doing things independently.

According to babycenter.com, at this time Maki will be doing things on his own or the "me do it" thing. No matter how much he insist I still make sure that it's safe though sometimes he bumps his head for just doing things on his own.

So that's our kid!

Speaking of kids this video here is something. Watch carefully how this kid manage to accurately shoot the ping pong ball into a cup. Watch and be amazed!
