Certified Foodies Giveaway

I know... I know this is a bit late but hey you can still try to join even though it's only until today.

So Certified Foodies is having a Giveaway and it will end today.  I just hope that there are still others who will join after reading this.  I think those who will join will still have a few more hours to accomplish and do all the tasks.

I just hoped that I'm still eligible or not late to join this.

Okay so here's my entry for the Photo of Certified Foodies.  Just don't know yet if Daddy Yashiro will qualify on this.  So, the story goes...

The photo was taken recently with the cooking event that we have attended.  I was delighted that one of the menu for that night was one of my favorite dish.   Well, not actually the dish but the penne which was one of the different kinds of pasta.  During that night the recipe was called Cherry Tomato and Eggplant Ragu Penne,  I find it enticing to eat with the fact that it is a pasta adds up the GUSTO to instantly taste it.

Ever since, I've always love pasta.  It's my favorite!  Whenever my mother cooks during special occasions there's always a pasta dish on her list of menu.   I really don't why and how I was able to get hooked with pasta but perhaps I just love how it can easily be mixed with different sauces and flavors.  You can have it sweet, you can have it a bit salty, or you can have it spicy.  The flexibility and adaptability of the pasta makes it great for all occasions.

Join Certified Foodies’ First Anniversary Giveway where you can win gift certificates, food gift packs, cash prizes and even a food trip date with the foodie siblings! To join, click on the banner above. And we’d like to thank their partners…

Dads on Straight Talk

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I was in Elementary, my father was forced to go abroad in order to provide most of our needs.  We don’t want him to go but the circumstances that is affecting our present condition makes my father pursue what he opted to do.    We’re not blessed with overwhelming riches that’s why my father decided to grab the chances and went abroad.  During that communication has been really hard.  The modes of communications are limited.  There are only two or three possible mode of communication, that was a letter or telegraph and the telephone long distance call which you will have to go to the telephone company to make that call.  Of course those calls are not free and not cheap.  It really requires much money to cover that phone call.   It was indeed a sacrifice during that time.  Mail letters are really snail mail.

At present there are so many means and ways to communicate with your love ones.  Different telecommunication companies have already popped out like mushrooms, aside from it, cellular phones we’re introduced and later on internet connections were established.  It is now much cheaper to call with relatives in abroad.

Though communications are becoming cheaper Dads still need to learn to cut on cell phone bills because diapers and formula milks are becoming way too much to bear for parents like me.   I’m not sure of getting richer by reducing cell phone bills but having some penny to save for the kids future would mean very much.   I think when it comes to savings mom knows best

Since telecom companies are into the campaign of bridging the gap, they are also campaigning about their product which doesn’t require many documents in owning your own cellular phone.    With a few touch of a fingers many would eventually seek about that services and people would immediately want to have that.  So what does Straight Talk has to offer to the public?  Here is the list of their offerings and what services they can offer in which I think, everything you need is here.

1.       The “All You Need Plan” meets even the need of heavy phone users with 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 30 MB of web data.

2.       Unlimited Monthly service is only $45, and includes calls, text, picture messaging, and

3.       Imagine unlimited calls, text, picture messaging and web for a whole year, for onl $499.00!

4.       411 calls are included at no extra charge.

5.       Free from activation, reactivation, or termination fees

6.       Straight Talk International Long Distance Services is a flexible prepaid calling service that enables you to make international calls from your home, cell or office phone at low rates.

7.       They also have reconditioned phones which are available from $10.00 with camera, mp3 player, mobile web access, and blue-tooth capability.

8.       There are also an amazing smarts hones, touch screen phones, and app capable phones with features like voice navigation, camera, video recorder, music player, instant messaging, and Bluetooth.

Perhaps with these services, call a friend would be always available for you whenever you need one, especially when Dads are having trouble keeping the kids busy and quiet.  Hook, line and sinker are way too old now and being digital somewhat ease up our works.

Daddy Yashiro on Pinoy Blogfest 2.0

It was Friday, August 5, 2011,  yours truly was able to attend the Pinoy Blogfest 2.0 BIO or Bloggers Invitation Only.  Though I wanted to attend the whole day affair, I'm restrained from doing so because of my work.  Yes, I still do have work.  My blogging side only start after the 8 to 5 schedule of work.

So rushing from Clark, Pampanga all the way to Trinoma, I was able to come early before the event start.  I got plenty of time to roam around and visit mainly all the exhibitors and sponsors of the said event.  I even got to have a freebies from Pony in which I have to blog about their contest.  Details of this would be on Kwento Ni Toto.  Aside from Pony I get also to visit some of the gadgets.

When the event is about to start, bloggers were advised to get inside the premises and settle down.  Of course there were also time to chit chat with the other bloggers and even meet new and old bloggers plus I get to see familiar faces from other companies.

Pinoy Blogfest 2.0 for this year is dubbed as “Social media as an agent for change”. Due to some recent events it has come to the attention of most people that social media has been an agent for changes in our life. In times of the Ondoy, social media has been one of the tools in helping and gathering donations from different part of the country and of the world. So the event will mainly discuss about changes and social media.

First on the list of speakers is Usec. Manul (Manolo) L. Quezon, a social media activists and of course works in the government. Usec Manolo Quezon points out mainly about FREEDOM. Freedom to study, freedom to think, and freedom to express oneself in which most of the bloggers are doing now and has or becoming an agent of change.

Second speaker was Ms. Gang Badoy who is a media practitioner and alternative educator. She uses her talent and knowledge in saving lives. Aside from Ms. Badoy there were also representative from Kiva that discussed and introduce what Kiva is all about.

After that Noel Cabangon rendered a live performance to all the bloggers and other participants. Everyone was invited to have their meals, I don't know if it is just a snack or if it is already dinner. Anyway, after the talks they presented the good blog awards which we will watch out for it.

The final part was every ones favorite portion of the seminar, the raffle. There were lots of giveaways during that time and I was thankful that I was able to get some prizes as well. I rarely get called from any raffle so this was a surprised that I win it. So this time my name was called and I get a chance to bring home an Ozim Uzzap. At first I thought it was a speaker but when I saw it it was a muscle toner. Good and it is really good!

Daddy Day Care: Grocery Bonding

This is the time when Moms are supposed to stay home and take care of the baby while Dads go to the grocery store together with the other kid.  Yes, it's our time to bond and we have a pretty nice bonding session.  We get to roam around the Metro.  This is not our usual bonding time because mainly when Maki and I bond we just went to the mall near our place and do some stuff together. Of course stuff that we both like and that is playing in Tom's World.  Unfortunately, we couldn't do that for this time because of financial instability.

Anyway, bonding time doesn't always have to be play time and spending time, sometimes grocery time get be good way also to have a special moment together with the kids.  On our side this our event.  For the reason that mommy is not feeling well and she needs to take care of Gelo that's why we two are task to make simple grocery, which we do hope that mommy won't have any critics about.

First adventure was our way to North Edsa, as per Mommy, there's a supermarket there that accepts the GC that we have.  So, on with the journey!  We got there, at last, after an hour of sweats inside the jeepney because of a very bad weather.   Wet and sticky, Maki and I went to the CR to change clothes.  Good thing that I learned from my wife to bring a bunch of clothes.  You'll never know what might happen so it is better to be prepared.

Scouting around the mall we weren't able to find the said establishment so I decided to go to Cubao and let Maki experience another train ride.  So the next journey was from North Edsa to Cubao.   When we're in the train Maki looked for the billboard of Bangis.  I was amazed that he was able to remember that billboard after his first two travel through the Metro Railways.  We arrived at Cubao. We roamed around the malls in Cubao while looking for the establishment that we were looking for.  After a few minutes we did find the place.  We inquire first if they are accepting the GC that we have.  Fortunately we don't have to go somewhere else.  So we grab a push cart with a car design and Maki rode inside of it.

We really have to always refer to the grocery list so that we won't go beyond to how much we should spend because our finances during that time was only limited.  Any miscalculation about the grocery items would be very bad for us because we won't have extra money for our early dinner.   So mainly we survived and was able to got most of the items in the grocery list.

Next stop was our early dinner.  While walking along the streets in Cubao we manage to take some shots.  Actually it was only Maki who's in the picture.  We ate at Mang Inasal!  Of course I love the chicken and the extra rice.   I ordered Maki with a single order and I'm sure he'll be full after that meal.  We even got a halo-halo as desert.  After the meal we're both full and we decided to go then.

It was like a road trip.  We got home around 7 pm, I think.  It was fun and Maki was quite tired that he fell asleep on our way home.

Good bonding time!

Friday Toys: Captain America Mask

I know that the Captain America movie has already over but I still can't get over not to make any review or post about Captain America toys.  Perhaps it has been one of my childhood action superhero that's why there's no way that I will not post anything about it.

Okay so what I'm going to share for today is a simple mask that I'm sure kids would love to play around with it.   I have not actually hold the mask, I only saw it on the website of Toy Kingdom.  So here's the picture of the mask.
Image from Toy Kingdom
I'm not really sure if it is a plastic or a cloth but from the looks of it on the picture it seems plastic.  So this mask will fit only to the right size of the kids head.  Now if it fits that would be nice to look at.  The mask costume is sure going to be a hit this coming Halloween party.  Anyway, all you need is the body costume.  So parents if you want to get your kids this Captain America Mask just drop by at the Toy Kingdom store.  Don't worry I don't get  any commission from posting or suggesting this toy but if they're going to, why not.  Hehehe.

So that's my toy post for now hope that I could bring more toys and reviews for kids, parents, and kids-at-heart.

Dad's Smiling Lunch Situation

Being a Dad doesn’t mean that we’ll stop taking care of ourselves. Good grooming should always be part of our daily rituals. No matter how late we are or how hectic are the schedules that we have, still we need to be presentable as possible. Another good thing about being a Dad is that we always get a chance to practice our smiling face whenever we’re with our kids. So, happy Dads with happy kids always bring a contagious smile. Even though Dads like me who is not very much of a heartthrob material, having a good look and a well pleasant smile will eventually give way for some good opportunities.

Photo image from Kwento Ni Toto

And it did occur in one of the incident our office. It was a meeting with some of the high ranking officials of the government agency. Most of them were really snappy and rigid with how they look. I made the order for the lunch and most of the viands were cooked with pork. I thought it was okay when one of the staff informed me that one of the officials does not eat pork. As an admin assistant, it is my task to know information about the attendees which I somewhat overlooked. Fifteen minutes before lunch I rushed to the restaurant and talked to the manager if I could exchange one of the viand which doesn’t have any pork. With some few explanations, the manager agreed to have it exchange with beef. I went back to the office with the beef just in time before their lunch.

Glad that I somehow talk my way with the manager for that solution.

High Tech Tubs for the Babies

Hands on Dads doesn’t have to be always left behind of the good techie stuff, so in order to be always on the track of new tech gadget I indulge myself in reading and learning of what’s new in the net. So here I was browsing for some new gadgets and techie stuff when I stumble upon this gadget. Take note Dads always think of what would be best for their kids, so even in the midst of browsing for personal stuff, it’s always on the look for kids and baby stuff. It’s a Cleanwater Baby Bathtub with temp reading. . I found this gadget at coolest-gadgets.com with a link to thinkgeek.com. I just do hope that sharing the product picture here won’t charge me of pics burglar (laughing our loud). So for the benefit of the readers here’s the picture. (I’ll just link it to where it came from.)
Image from thinkgeek.com

This gadget looks well for the babies and it is also best for first time parents. I don’t know if some of the Dads participate in bathing their babies but I do remember the time when I helped my wife bathing our babies. The first time was really not good, I felt nervous that I might do something awful. The testing of temperature, the draining of dirty water, and the pouring new clean water was something that at least should be minimize with this new gadget that I have found.

Some of the features of this bathtub are…

  • Baby bathtub drains out the dirty water for a cleaner baby
  • Color-coded thermometer makes it easy to set the perfect temperature
  • Cleanwater reservoir holds fresh water for rinsing
  • Includes bath sponge for added newborn support
  • Rinse cup included
  • Fits most single and double basin sinks.

So perhaps Dads can do the bathing time alone with their babies if moms go to the office or to the market. It will be much easier and safer.

Friday Toys: Blok Squad

Today’s featured toy is similar to the famous building block toys. This can be stacked together to form a desired object or the designated figure that is supposed to be formed. The stacking of blocks can really heighten the creativity of every kid that will play something like this. I remember that when I was a child I love to form all the images or figure that can be form out of those pieces of toys. It’s more like a puzzle to me. It made me stay and try to finish assembling the toy.

Blok Squad was created by Mega Bloks . They got five sets to collect and play with if you like to complete the entire collection of Blok Squad which was all mainly about rescue and construction vehicles. For this primary toy that we have it is called the Fire Patrol Rescue. The whole set comes with a 190 pieces that you can use to create a Fire Patrol Rescue theme. Aside from the Fire Patrol Rescue theme, they also got the coastal and beach rescue theme, the construction theme, boat rescue, and other toys that are inter connectible.

Now this is where parents should be very cautious, the Blok Squad or any stacking and forming objects has small parts that need to be guided by older people around them. You’ll never know what would might happen if the kids are playing with it. It is better safe than sorry at all.

College Kicks

I remember when I was still in college I joined a martial arts group called DIMAA. It is a group which practices integrated martial arts. I think I was in second year college during that time. Though I wasn’t able to finish the first degree of the ladder I was able to gain knowledge about martial arts and it did help me in some ways.

Now there are different kinds of self-defense which aims to help people in protecting themselves and maintaining discipline. They differ on every location and every country, some are simple and others are too complicated to learn. Some of these are the taekwondo, aikido, karate, jui jitsu, and a number of martial arts. In some places they offer classes for kids and adults like in Idahou, there is a school of martial arts the teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Boise, Jiu Jitsu Boise, and it also teaches Karate for Kids Meridian. Though martial arts have been quiet for quite some time I think more people needs to learn the art, not only the way of defending once self but also the art of having discipline with in.

For me as a Dad I would definitely let my two kids join in any martial art group. I want them to learn to be more disciplined and also to defend themselves when they have to.

Being A Nuffnang Blogger is the Hottest Thing Since Hot Stuffs Are @ Nuffnang

Just got this new email from Nuffnang. Good thing that they always send me emails of good stuff that they want to give to their members. So the phrase goes like this…

“Being A Nuffnang Blogger is the Hottest Thing Since Hot Stuffs Are @ Nuffnang”

Bloggers who became part of Nuffnang have already experienced numerous hot stuffs, from movies, contest, events and some other stuff. Since Nuffnang always get the best things in town, Nuffnang bloggers get it first and they get to be the first to experience it. So who ever get it first becomes the hottest thing and if being first is hot then being at Nuffnang is totally hot.

If Cowboys and Aliens are hot partners then you could say that Nuffnang and Pizza Hut are the hottest team ever to provide block screening of Cowboys and Aliens, starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford which will happen at Gateway Cinema.
Pizza Hut: Hot on the Dot!

I’m sure most of us want our pizza hot! So Pizza Hut now offers Hot on the Dot Pizza deliveries: 30 minutes AND hot (as indicated by the thermally activated sticker you place on the pizza box upon receiving your pizza) or your pizza is FREE! You can also dial 911-11-11 if you want your pizzas Hot on the Dot!

Relatives in Hawaii

Recently my family was able to get in touch and connected with our relatives in Hawaii. We were so happy that though we’re far apart from each other we were able to get connection through the internet. It’s really one of the great inventions of mankind. Making the world a little bit smaller for everyone to greet and say hi though they were miles away from each other. Things on their side of the world are quite different from ours so exchanging thoughts and ideas are well and good for both of our families.

I haven’t known yet on which part of Hawaii they are residing, maybe a few more months and a few more chat I would know more about them. Actually most of them are already my grandma but they would rather be called Aunts and Uncles. Worst the teens who are younger than me are supposed to be my Uncles and Aunt. Whew talk about bloodlines. I’m not really sure but one of their family members was involve in an accident. I don’t know if this Honolulu Personal Injury will apply to them or they already know this. For now I don't know much about their side of the world perhaps more intimate chat and conversation with them would make us more connected.

My Properties... Soon!

finestpropertiesmallorca
One of my Dream Houses! photo from www.finestpropertiesmallorca.com

As I am looking at my family, I get to wonder what it will be a few years after. Though I know I could squeeze in my two boys in just one room, at least if that’s what they want once they started growing, still we would need a much bigger house. I’m not really much sure what lies ahead in the future but there’s only one thing that I want to do at present, make sure that my family will be secured physically, financially and emotionally.

God has always been there for us. He has always showed and directed us to people and places that could help us during those times of difficulties. Blessings always comes when you least expected it. All it needs is a sincere prayer of surrender and thanks.

As a father I always dream of owning big houses, especially in known places in the world like in Florida, Paris, Spain or even in Mallorca. I believe Immobilien Mallorca is really becoming popular because of their great property offers. For now I only dreamed of having one of the biggest properties that Mallorca Immobilien can offer but of course I need to do more work if I wanted my family to have houses and properties in other countries. If I could be as wealthy as Pacman I’m sure I’ll be having my own villas or mansion in PropertiesMallorca.

For now we’re settling ourselves with what we have and working to own one soon.
