Friday Toys: Single Seater Trike

If you have been following this blog for 4 years (hmm imagine that it's already 4 years) already I'm sure you'll recognize this picture.  Yeah!  This is Maki's picture on his first birthday.  The Single Seater Trike is a gift from his Tita Shierleen.

Talk about durability of this Trike, up to now it is being used by my youngest son, Gelo.  Though some parts of it where already worn off or detached like that hippo on the front and that cover at the back.  All in all it is still properly functioning.  Actually that trike has already been used by three kids already and I think it is really tested by time.   Toys can last long if properly taken care of.

Perhaps that trike will still last until Gelo turns 4 I think.  My sister did know how to pick a good product then.  So if you're planning to have one like this, try to check out different stores first before deciding and be sure to get the good buys with good quality.  A reminder as well, make sure to take care of them.  It will for sure benefit not only the present kids but the coming as well.  Just make sure to clean it well as if it was always new.

Eventfull and Date Weekend,

Last weekend was totally a blast for me and my wife because we have to attend food events during the weekend.  And that's why I wasn't able to put anything on this blog.  Though it was something both of us, me and my wife, liked doing, we feel bad that we couldn't bring along our kids.  So we just made this events our sort of date.  We seldom do this kind of dating since the two kids came in.  Usually it's a family date.

Taken at Buffet 101 though I didn't eat there.  hehehe.
Thanks to Jenny Gonzales Roxas for this photo.
Saturday though we have different events in the morning we ended up together on the afternoon.  Still hunting for the tasks that we are supposed to finish for a blog contest which we were frustrated on that day because we didn't get any tasks done.  At least my wife gets to know places that she'd never to.  It was like those days of dating, walking and strolling inside the mall even though we don't have anything to buy.  It was a fun Saturday Night.

Sunday morning we did bond with the kids and play with them.  Then before lunch time we left again and continue with our tasks for the blog contest which we are hoping that we did get the task done.  If you're curious about what was the task you visit my other blog Kwento Ni Toto and my wife's blog MAG of My Life and read the story there.  If you like the story please do comment as well.

Afterwards we went straight to one of our event in SM South Mall thanks to Sir Rob for the shuttle.  Far south indeed and I think this is the first time that my wife came there.  It was a food trip galore and we were full after that event.   Lovely couples making every event and food trip just like a date.  Love that!

Our event at Black Canyon Coffee in SM South Mall and
our date as well.
Hope to do that again and again but of course we would love to have our kids with us during dates.  Not sure about this coming weekend but maybe more of Daddy Day Care perhaps.

Hopefully I could add one more activity Story Time with the kids.

Friday Toys: TOYCON 2012

Well, too busy to write personal stuff because of the deadlines!  Anyway I just want to share Daddy Yashiro's experience and pics in the recently concluded TOYCON 2012.   I've visited the event on the 15 and on the 16 of June.

I came late afternoon on the first day that's I wasn't able to catch some of the goodie program happened, though I did find lots of toys that perhaps I'll be planning to start collecting.  That's hopefully!   On the second day I'm a bit a early for the good stuff but I did make sure to capture the best figures inside their gallery.

My first plan about attending TOYCON 2012 was to tag along my kid but got second thought of bringing him.  Perhaps next time I'll bring both of the kids.  Parents when going to events like this try to explain everything to your kids in a nice way.  For sure they'll get to ask things of why and how.

Here are some of the photos that I've taken during the TOYCON 2012.  Enjoy!

Monday Rush: Leaky Ceiling Due to Typhoon

It was Monday, as much as I wanted to curl under the sheet it is really a bad weather.  It was raining from evening until dawn and perhaps that might have caused the leaks inside the house.  Floors were wet because of those leaks.  I don't know how many holes our roof has but I'm pretty sure that its plenty.    The leaks are not just drops but it's actually dripping.  Because of that I did stay in the house and somehow fixed that leaks, at the same time cleaned the house as well.  Just when I thought the rain would continue the whole day, the sun rises!   Grrrr... the weather!  It's really unpredictable now when and where it will rain.

So the day was just a busy day in the house and afterwards worked on some articles and blog posts.  Whew!  That was really a day.  At least I get to have another bonding moment with the kids.

Human Nature, All Natural For Kids and For All

As a parent and specifically as a Dad, I would really want my kids to have the best of what is available in the market, quality food, quality clothes and quality services. I want them to experience the best in life but of course I'm not born with a golden spoon in my mouth so, the main problem is resources. As we all know, all that is best always ranked up in the market, meaning the prices are way too high for a parent like me who's earning not quite good enough. But I really want something that is okay and not harmful for my kids. So I have to look for a better alternative that offers the same quality, same ingredients but differs in costing and does not harm my kids sensitive skins.

Last month, my wife and I were able to attend a bloggers conference in which one of the sponsor is from a company called Human Nature. Though given with a limited time, she was able to at least deliver the whole history of their company and their vision. I know if I'll write all of them here it would be quite long and tiring to read. So, to make it interesting I'll dig in to some information that you would also want to know and if you want to dig more perhaps you can drop on their website www.humanheartnature.com.

Okay so here it is as far as I can recall it and as far as I understood what she said. Oh by the way the guest was a she and her name is Sarah Brillantes. She's really good on what she does.

So Human Nature was formed by three Gawad Kalinga volunteers namely Anna Meloto-Wilk, Dylan Wilk, and Camille Meloto. Who are well versed on how and what's the situation of the poor families in the Philippines and also an environment advocates. It all started with their needs for their children that lateron became something they worked out to provide materials and ingredients that are best for their kids but does not give a bad effect to the environment.

Human Nature was launched in November 2008. Today, it has become the country’s leading and trail-blazing social enterprise, hailed by Entrepreneur magazine as “the game-changer of the decade,” and studied as a successful working model for a social enterprise by students at Berkley University, California and Lee Kuan Yew in Singapore. It has sold almost 3 million products through its network of16,000 dealers and its 19 branches all over the country. This year, it started selling its mineral makeup line Love Minerals at Beauty Bar, the only Filipino cosmetics brand carried by the premiere personal care chain. A selection of Human Nature’s best-selling products is available at Rustan’s Supermarket and Shopwise. Human Nature is also distributed in the US and Singapore, with more plans of expansion on the way.  Basically the people behind Human Nature aims three principles as they do their business. Pro-Philippines, Pro-Poor and Pro-Environment. Pro-Philippines because most of the the ingredients and raw materials of their products came from the Philippines. Since their ingredients are locally produced, Poor people are given a chance to work and provide livelihood for their families which make it Pro-Poor and lastly since the owners still wanted a better place for their kids their products are entirely Pro-Environment.

So next time that you buy things, always think of our kids future!

Monday Rush: Bonding with Gelo and Maki

The day before the Independence day.  It's Monday and though I wanted to go to work today my body was just to weak and it does not feel well.  Maybe I got tired of the weekend and the sudden change of weather. Well another sick leave to be filed again.  Hay... used one day leave again.

Anyway, though I'm a bit weak and sickly, having time with kids eases them off.  It was fun staying in the house with the kids and helping out my eldest do his homework.  The artistic Daddy Yashiro draws again as one of my eldest son's assignment is to cut or draw five respective greetings.  We were supposed to cut some of it in an old work book but the drawings were on both sides so I have to deal with it and draw similar drawing.  It was fun!  At least I get a week day with the kids.

During the afternoon I got a call from one of my blogger friends and guess what... I won an earphone from Creative.  Wooohooo....  So, he invited me to claim the goodies at SM North EDSA Annex.

When my eldest son arrived home from school, I dressed him up and we went to SM.  Sorry for our little one, he has to stay with his grandparents for a while.  The weather is not good to bring him.  So were off to get the winning prize.  It's Dad and son bonding moment.

When got to the place Maki stared at the games being played.  He sure misses playing on a desktop PC.  We've waited for a while and Maki got a full view of the games.  The prize was given to me and took some few shots then we're off to meet my wife.

It was fun!  Hope to get another week days with the kids!

Daddy Day Care: Separation Anxiety and Big Treats

One of the things that breaks a parent's heart is when they need to leave the house to earn something for the kids.  That's the common problem of all working Dads and Moms.  The separation anxiety!  Kids often holds to their parents whenever they are leaving the house.  This is normal as long as it is explained to the kids very well.   According to some experts parents should not skip or hide from their kids when leaving because it will only cause more trauma for the kids.  It will give them negative effect.

Unfortunately, this happens to us today and our eldest, Maki, started crying and wanted to come with us but we explained to him that we have a schedule event for today.   So, while preparing and Maki still crying, we keep on explaining to him and told him that we might have something for him when we come back.

Still crying, his grandpa hold him and keep him busy for a while.  So we head on to our destination.  Unfortunately, we are late but was able to have the main purpose of the event and good thing that they have a big treat for us and that big treat was just right as present for kids.  Thanks to McDonald's for that great Big N' Tasty treat and everything was just big enough.

So, when we came home, Maki's face glisten and was amazed of what we have for them.  All big treat from McDonald's.

Maki and Gelo playing inside the crib.

Kids are simple and not complicated, so when you say that you're coming back they'll believe that you're coming back and if you promise that you're going to bring something back home they're going to expect that.  So always make sure to keep your promise and if ever you cannot keep that promise to talk and explain.  As I've said they are simple and not complicated.

Friday Toys: Ferrari Toy Car

Daddy Yashiro the Pinoy Daddy Blogger here having a journal of the weekly Friday Toys.  For this day I'm featuring one of our collection, the Ferrari Toy Car.

For most Dads and dudes, I'm sure they know already the name Ferrari and when talked about, it only boils to one thing but car racing.  This toy car is a miniature replica of the original Ferrari car.  The ratio of this model car compared to the original is 1:38.  Usually err I think they have the right to on this, anyway this certain petroleum company releases this line of toy car models.

I started collecting their line of model toy cars last 2007 which I was able to get to sets of that series.  One set was allotted for collection and the other set for my eldest son's play time.

This toy car and the like usually comes with an indication that the toy is only allowed for kids aging from 3 years old and above but since it's a rare toy car I get for my sons.  Of course parents should always be there when they are playing but of course it is discourage to let the kids play with toys that is not appropriate for their age.

Well, that's it for now and I hope that I can feature more of their toy cars. Hopefully they are still in one piece!

Random Thoughts: Teen Parents

This is something that I just want to express my thoughts about a news that I recently read and heard about a young teenage mother (I guessed) who forgot her baby strap on to her safety seat on top of a car and drove off.  Not realizing that the baby was there and fell off in an intersection.  Thank God that nothing happened to the baby but I think it's traumatic for her to fell off from the top of the car and perhaps roll over the street.  According to the report allegedly she was doped.  For whatever reason it is I'm it's not right to leave the baby on her seat on top of the car.

I don't want to be so judgmental about  this issue but I think the main focus here perhaps is about having a baby at an early age.  Many of the teens nowadays are having their babies as early as 14 or even younger.  Yes the feeling was good, the self expression of so-called love during this age and the thought of actually proving love by surrendering virginity.  It was the happiest hour of their life and also the beginning of a very big responsibility, raising a child.

Though there are teens who strive hard to learn and become responsible parents.  Yes they are young but eager to provide good future for their little ones.  I honor those teen couples who keep their chastity belt tight and wait for the right time to let it loose.  On our part, my wife and I let it loose at the right time and raising kids are not simple but its fun.

Monday Rush: Pancakes For Breakfast

As always, this Daddy Yashiro leaves the house around quarter to six or exactly six in the morning.  Waking up early dawn during Monday is a routine that I somewhat endures every week.  Not really used to it but it is really a burden to wake up first day of the week.  Since it is dawn my wife couldn't possibly get up that early also because she was too exhausted and sleepy whenever our little ones wakes up in the middle of the night so I don't force her to prepare breakfast for me.  Though sometimes and if she's able, she would prepare but mostly she's too tired and sleepy.  I understand that.

Recently, I was able to came across this food stand one morning as I was in a hurry.  They were selling pancakes for about Php6 each.  So I did try to buy two but I figured it that it's not enough for me.  This morning I did buy three of those pancakes and good that it is enough for my breakfast.  A rush breakfast for the Monday Rush.

The pancakes are quite good. It just got a nice texture and I can say that it is not mixed up with too much flour as additives.  Cooked good and sweetened just right.  For a price of Php6 each with a small of a saucer I can say that the cost justifies the price.

How about you, how do you cope with breakfast during the Monday rush?

Daddy Day Care: Out to Hunt for School Bag

Maki's school day will start Monday and unfortunately he still don't have any bag to use.  Though he has a small bag which only fits few notebooks, some colors and pencil, still, he needs to have a bag that is durable enough to hold the number of books that he'll be having.

For the past school year Maki was able to use two bags (I think) and both of them are already unusable.  Their zippers are already crooked and wont zip anymore.  The fabric of the bags are already worn out and stretched, I think it wouldn't keep the books dry when it rains real hard.

So today, our family heads out to the mall to hunt for Maki's school bag.  Together with my in-laws they went to one of the malls in QC and for me, I headed first to the hospital get the result of the laboratories then went straight to the doctor for the reading of the results.  Too bad the doctor had change her schedule already and Saturdays were excluded on her schedule.  Then, I followed them to mall.

Looking for bags that will fit to our sons needs and that will fit also to our budget is really hard.  Good thing that there's a sale in that department store that we were able to get the bag that we are looking for on a lesser price.  Of course Maki were very happy and excited for his bag.

A tip for parents, don't go with the trend of bags instead try to look for something that will last at least for the whole year.  Also try to hunt for good and quality bags for a lesser price, be on the look out for sales.
