Campaigning World Vision’s Count Me In!

Last June 8, 2011 I get a chance to attend an advocacy event in Trinoma Mall. The event was the launching of the Count Me In! Campaign, it is a campaigned organized by World Vision to attract and gather more people who are willing to help children in need. Count Me In! is their campaign for their child sponsorship program which is one of their programs in helping children and communities. For this year they are targeting to help 11,000 children for the year 2011.

For those who hasn’t know yet World Vision, it is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Motivated by our Christian faith, World Vision is dedicated to working with the world’s most vulnerable people. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. Here in the Philippines, World Vision has been helping children and communities for years. I, personally get a chance to meet some of their children and youth that they are helping during a Script Writing and Animation Workshop years ago. It was a privilege meeting and working with those children.

The event was participated by different stars, sponsors, and volunteers who believed in the work of World Vision. Stars who have been sponsoring children share their experiences and their feeling towards the program of World Vision. Former sponsored child also shares their experiences of being helped by World Vision.

Being there in the event and hearing the testimony of the former sponsored chiId brings back memories. I also was a former sponsored child but from a different NGO that help children so I know the feeling of being one of those lucky children who get help from people especially when it comes to education. I think without those help from other people I wouldn’t have made it to where I am right now. Though I have not been into any big positions in big companies, the opportunity to finish the foundation of education is worth enough to strive and do meaningful acts in my life.

I think being as a blogger one of the things that I can do for now is help in spreading the words about the works of World Vision and invite other people to participate in the sponsorship program of World Vision. So for more information you can visit their website or personally go to their office.
