#EARTHHOUR, 12 Years and Counting

It's more than a decade already (12 years to be exact) since our family started participating in EARTH HOUR advocacy yearly activity. That was long before there were large programs staged to commemorate the celebration. Yes, we were joining the call of turning off our lights even just for an hour.

I think this advocacy started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and later on, other countries joined the call. For us, we joined (in our house) in 2009. These were the days that the activities were still in small groups, and WWF asks cities, municipalities, locals, and individuals to participate and have their part in recognizing the need to advocate the cause. I believe this was when candles form the 60+ figure and are the main show of the event.

Last year was a bit less celebrated, and it was because of the pandemic. But of course, life must go on, and the cause must continue. With pandemic or not, we still turned the lights off.

On my part, I'm just continuing the ideology of our Environmental Organization called "Students' Action Vital to the Environment and Mother Earth" (SAVE ME) Movement. So, if you want to know more about the organization and what are programs being conducted just message me and I'll introduce you to our founder.

Anyway, his year, though still experiencing the whole pandemic, we tend to go on with the activity. So, as our preparation, we did a candle holder made of scrap wood and tin cans. The good thing about this is that it is also our son's project. It's more of striking two birds with one stone.

So, what will you be doing this coming EARTH HOUR?
